Enhance your expedition with a thrilling exploration of this breathtaking place. You’ll get around like the locals do, by boat, and have up-close views of monkeys and safari outings to spot fascinating birdlife, nocturnal alligators, and more. You’ll call an ecofriendly lodge your home, dining on freshly prepared meals of exotic fruits and fresh ingredients and retiring each evening to your own bungalow where the songs of the forest lull you to sleep.

Explore the Brazilian Amazon
Transfer this morning to your Amazon lodge in the most thrilling way — by boat along the Tarumã River! After the welcome reception with welcome drink, you’ll have time to settle in to your ecolodge and explore before lunch. Then, head out for a trek into the jungle; keep an eye out for macaws, toucans, squirrel monkeys, and a rich menagerie of wildlife. After a welcome dinner at the lodge, take a canoe out with an experienced guide to see if you can spot alligators at the water’s edge.
Included meals:
Witness the Meeting of the Waters
Following a delicious breakfast of Western favorites and locally harvest fruits like bananas and papaya, join a full-day tour to view the Meeting of the Waters. Where the Amazon and the Tapajós converge, their waters retain their own distinct colors for several miles as they flow side by side. It is one of the Amazon’s many remarkable phenomena. Cultural Discovery: Later, your boat brings you to a serene lake where you can angle for the notorious piranha fish; you’ll get an up-close view of this sharp-toothed hunter as soon as your guide manages to catch one! Enjoy a delicious dinner back at the lodge.
Visit an Indian village and, later, join your base program
Begin today with a visit a local family to learn about their traditions and customs. After lunch on your own, you have the rest of the day to relax at the lodge or enjoy more activities or nature hikes on your own. After dinner, return by boat to Manaus, taking in the lush river banks and a cacophony of creatures as you go. Later, you'll join Day 2 of the base program.
