For many of us, 2020 has been spent close to home and in the company of loved ones and friends — and you might be looking forward to some “me” time! If you’re thinking of traveling solo in 2021, each of these destinations is filled with attractions and activities that you can enjoy at your own leisure.

Remember, if you’re traveling with us, our Worldwide Concierge service is always on hand to help you personalize your journey. At Vantage, your wish is our command!

1) Singapore, Asia

Experience Singapore’s modern multiculturalism when you visit its ethnic enclaves, created during the island nation’s days as a British colony. Kampong Glam, in particular, is worth exploring on your own: See the elegant Sultan Mosque, set at the end of a boulevard flanked by colorful shophouses. Then, stroll the lanes to find a psychedelic array of street art, cafés, bars, and stores selling everything from vintage clothing to artisan homeware.

Visit Singapore on East Asia: Malaysia, Sri Lanka & Beyond

2) Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen’s compact city center is a delight to explore on foot, since a large part of the old city center is pedestrianized. If you’d like to examine the famous Danish design aesthetic, amble down the shopping street of Strøget to browse its dazzling array of fashion, home décor, and souvenir stores. Take a break with coffee and a smørrebrød (open-faced sandwich) at any of the cafés here, while melodies from street musicians liven the atmosphere.

Visit Copenhagen on Jewels of Scandinavia, Baltic Capitals & St. Petersburg

3) Hamburg, Germany

With its thriving nightlife, arts, and culinary scene, Hamburg is known as one of the coolest cities in Germany. In the day, consider taking in a lunchtime or teatime concert at the Elbphilharmonie: Many of these are very affordably priced or even free to attend, and your Concierge can help you with bookings. By night, head to the St. Pauli neighborhood — teeming with bars, restaurants, and clubs — to get a taste of Hamburg’s buzzing nightlife.

Visit Hamburg on Ports of Timeless Wonder: Normandy, Amsterdam, the Kiel Canal & Beyond

4) Boston, U.S.

Founded in 1630, Boston is one of the oldest cities in the United States — and it’s also home to Vantage’s headquarters! With the freedom to follow your own whims, perhaps you’ll stroll the charming gaslit, cobblestone streets of the historic Beacon Hill neighborhood and enjoy a fresh, succulent lobster roll — a must-try in Boston!

If you’d like to gain more insight into American history, consider a themed tour of the city’s 2.5-mile Freedom Trail: Your Vantage Worldwide Concierge can help you make arrangements for a historic pub crawl or a tour focusing on the women of the American Revolution.

Visit Boston on Autumn in New England & Canada: Montréal to Boston

5) Montevideo, Uruguay

If you’re traveling solo in Montevideo, you’ll want to spend some time admiring the views at La Rambla, a 13.7-mile boardwalk that traces the city’s coastline along the Rio de la Plata river basin. There are plenty of scenic spots here, but Punta Carretas lighthouse frames the sunset particularly well — and for a small fee, you can ascend the lighthouse for a view of Montevideo’s skyline.

Visit Montevideo on South America: Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Aires
