PACING: This trip is moderately paced, visiting 4 provinces in 14 days with 2-night stays in five destinations (Montreal, Québec City, Fredericton, Charlottetown and Baddeck) and a 3-night stay in Halifax. Includes some long motorcoach transfers with stops for lunch and/or sightseeing.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Most sightseeing on air-conditioned coaches with guides. Easy walking with hills and cobblestone streets in Québec City. There is also a 1 1/2-hour ferry ride from Wood Islands to Caribou.
CULTURAL FOCUS: Focus is on the cosmopolitan cities of Montreal and Québec City the first few days, followed by the picturesque scenery of the Canadian Maritimes. Includes a local Canadian Program Director to provide an insider's view of Canada, and Local Guides in Montreal, Québec City, Fredericton, and Charlottetown to add to the local perspective. Your itinerary will include panoramic city tours, entrance to museums, a Vantage Exclusive visit with a local farmer, Patricia Ouellet, a Vantage Exclusive talk on Native Mi'kmaq customs by Wil "White Bear" Dedam, a lobster lunch cruise on Shediac Bay, a horse-drawn carriage ride during Anne of Green Gables Museum visit (and tea with the Campbells), and a rug hooking demonstration in Cheticamp.
SPECIAL FACTORS: Accommodations are at 4- and 5-star hotels, except in Charlottetown, where accommodations are more basic, with a stay in a restored 1880s inn. |
