Lexington & Concord Tour
Full Day Tour, Including Lunch

“The British are coming!” Today you will follow the route Paul Revere took as he warned the countryside. You will begin by visiting the Lexington Green, where Captain Jonathan Parker and 77 Minuteman stood their ground against 700 of England’s finest regulars. It was here, on the morning of April 19, 1775, that "the first blood was spilt in the dispute with Great Britain," as George Washington wrote in his diary. See the Minuteman Statue which was erected in 1900.  This statue was by Henry H. Kitson which memorializes the Lexington Minutemen. Your journey will then take you to Concord, Massachusetts where you will journey past the homes of Nathaniel Hawthorne, gothic novelist, Louisa Ma Alcott, author of Little Women, and Ralph Waldo Emerson, essayist and poet. You will make your way to the Old North Bridge, where “the embattled farmers stood and fired the shot heard ‘round the world.” Your visit to Minuteman National Historic Park includes a video of “The Road To Revolution” which depicts Paul Revere's Ride and the battles at Lexington Green, North Bridge and along the Battle Road. Your tour will then continue on for lunch at Concord’s Colonial Inn. Concord's Colonial Inn, which has a long and distinguished history, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The original structure was built in 1716, and the property been operating as a hotel since 1889. Situated on Concord's town common, now known as Monument Square, the Inn is surrounded by many landmarks of our nation's literary and revolutionary history. In 1775, one of the Inn's original buildings was used as a storehouse for arms and provisions. When the British came to seize and destroy the supplies, the Minutemen met them at the North Bridge on April 19th for what became the first battle of the American Revolution. The event is commemorated every April in Concord with a parade by the Colonial Inn and a ceremony at the North Bridge on Patriots Day. This tour will provide you with a taste of the American Revolution and is not to be missed!
