Juneau, Alaska
Glittering glaciers and fragrant evergreens stand in stark contrast to modern skyscrapers in this mining town turned state capital. Visit the Log Cabin Visitor Center to get some pointers, then you’re ready to explore! Discover the city’s extensive gold rush heritage as captured in the well-preserved 1920s and 1930s structures along S. Franklin Street, visit the grand Alaska State Capitol building and wonderful five-story totem, or venture to Mendenhall Glacier, known as the “drive-in” glacier.

Sitka, Alaska
Historic Sitka, whose name is derived from a Tlingit Indian word meaning "by the sea," sits on the edge of the scenic Inside Passage. Here you’ll find an islet-dotted bay and the fresh scent of hemlock and spruce trees; nearby is Mt. Edgecomb, an extinct volcano. The Sitka National Historical Park showcases the town’s Tlingit Native American and Russian czarist-era cultural heritage.
