Depart Home / Santiago, Chile
When you arrive in Santiago, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel, where Vantage has made special arrangements so that your room will be ready for you and breakfast will be available. Your afternoon is at leisure.
This evening, enjoy exceptional views from San Cristóbal Hill on our Santiago by Night panoramic tour followed by a funicular down the hill. Cultural Connection: During your included Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant, the owner will describe and serve two Chilean favorites: empanadas, which are meat-filled, turnover-like pastries, and pisco sours, a tasty cocktail with fruit juice.

Santiago
Today we depart on a city tour including a visit to the Cousino Palace; the Alameda, Santiago’s colorful main avenue; the colonial-era Cathedral, and the Plaza de Armas. The rest of the day is at leisure or you can join an optional tour to a local hacienda to learn about Chilean countryside traditions.
Your full-day tour on Day 4 includes a scenic drive to Vina del Mar, the “Garden City,” where you’ll visit the Fonck Museum.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll stop at Valparaiso, Santiago’s main port built on 42 hills, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll explore the old and modern districts with visits to Victory Square, the wharf areas, and the Naval Academy. Return to the hotel for an evening at leisure.

Santiago / Santa Cruz, Chile
This morning you’ll drive to Santa Cruz, in the heart of Chilean wine country, along the legendary Pan-American Highway. Arriving in Santa Cruz, check into your delightful colonial-style hotel, where you’ll enjoy a room with a balcony. Next, you’ll visit the Museum of Colchagua. Cultural Connection: Your day is capped off by a visit to a local winery for a lecture on local vintages, and a winetasting. Enjoy a sunset dinner at the winery’s restaurant, with gorgeous views over the vineyards and the surrounding hills.

Santa Cruz / Buenos Aires, Argentina
You’ll transfer by motorcoach to Santiago for your flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival, you’ll then transfer to your excellent hotel, located in the elegant Recoleta district, and near shops and restaurants.

Buenos Aires
Explore Buenos Aires on a half-day tour that includes the lovely Palermo district; the Plaza de Mayo; the Casa Rosada; and La Boca, a lively Italian neighborhood. Cultural Connection: Your tour ends at the famous Café Tortoni, where you’ll enjoy lunch and a private tango lesson. This evening, join us for dinner and a fiery tango performance at a local tango hall.
On Day 8, we’ll visit the Recoleta Cemetery, where Evita Peron and other luminaries are interred. Then, enjoy an excursion to an authentic estancia (ranch), with a welcome reception of local wine and empanadas. Later, dig into a sizzling barbecue lunch, followed by an Argentinian gaucho demonstration.
Spend Day 9 at leisure. Or, join us for an optional full-day boat trip into the lush Tigre Delta, with lunch. Cultural Connection: This evening, enjoy a lecture on the Argentinian economy and a home-hosted dinner.

Buenos Aires / Iguassu Falls, Brazil & Argentina
Today you’ll fly to Iguassu Falls National Park, located on the border of Brazil and Argentina, and spend two nights on the Argentinian side of the Falls. Enjoy a walking tour of the Argentinian side and a train ride to the overlook of the Devil’s Throat, where torrents crash into a narrow canyon. This evening’s included dinner is at the hotel.

Today you’ll explore Iguassu Falls from the Brazilian side, beginning with a walking tour. Then, your day will brighten considerably with a visit to the Bird Sanctuary to see some of the world’s most colorful avian species!

Iguazu Falls / Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Rio de Janeiro is sunny, sophisticated, and spectacular. In the morning you’ll fly to this colorful city and check into your hotel, located right on the Copacabana. Your evening is at leisure, or join an optional “Rio by Night” tour — a lively Brazilian evening with dinner and a Samba show.

Rio de Janeiro
On this morning’s city tour, you’ll ride a cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf, the soaring granite peak that overlooks the city. From the top, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the bay, the curve of the Copacabana, and Rio’s other iconic mountain peak, Corcovado. You’ll have the afternoon at leisure or join an optional Guanabara Bay Boat Tour.
On Day 14 you’ll take a scenic ride aboard a cog rail train through the Tijuca Forest to the top of Corcovado Mountain, site of the huge Christ the Redeemer statue. Then, stop to visit the “hippie market” in Ipanema. Cultural Connection: A real treat awaits with exclusive children’s Samba performance at your hotel. Later, reminisce about your many South American discoveries at a Farewell Dinner.

Rio de Janeiro / Overnight Flight to U.S.
Cultural Connection: Enjoy a lecture on feijoada, Brazil’s savory national dish, which you’ll sample over lunch.
Later, en route to the airport, enjoy a Colonial Tour of Rio. You’ll visit the Praca XV de Novembro, named after the date of the proclamation of the republic; the historic center of Rio which houses the Palaco Imperial (Royal Palace); and the Candelaria Church. You’ll depart Rio on an evening flight, arriving in the U.S. on Day 16.
